Prostate cancer constitutes 20% of all male cancer diagnoses and 10% of all male cancer deaths.

 In Texas, an estimated 14,200 new cases of prostate cancer and an estimated 2,180 deaths will occur in 2021.

 Men of African ancestry, men with a family history of prostate cancer, firefighters, and men exposed to Agent Orange are at highest risk.

 Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in American men only behind skin cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men behind lung cancer.

This year, approximately 248,530 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the United States – that’s one man every 2.1 minutes – and roughly 34,130 will die this year from the disease – which is one man every 15 minutes.

 1 in 8 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Men of African ancestry are at the highest risk for the disease with a rate of 1 in 6 men. They are also 2.1 times more likely to die from the disease.

 Prostate cancer not only affects men but also affects their family and friends.

 Education regarding prostate cancer and early detection strategies is critical to saving lives, preserving, and protecting our families.
