THR Harris Methodist
Fort Worth - Award
From the Texas Health Harris Fort Worth Newsletter

And the 2012 Face-to-Face award goes to …

Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, visited Texas Health Harris Fort Worth Oct. 24 for his annual Face-to-Face meeting. Hawthorne met with hospital leadership, held a Town Hall meeting for all employees and volunteers and toured several areas in the hospital. During the Town Hall, Hawthorne presented the living the Mission, patient Safety Service and Helping Hands awards to very surprised individuals.

This years winners are

Helping Hands: “Let’s talk on Tuesday … About Prostate Cancer” Support Group hosts Monte Knapp, Wolfram Blattner, Don Graves and Michael Butler.

These deserving men were chosen because of their willingness to give back to the community through their Prostate Cancer Chat Support Group called “Let’s Talk on Tuesday … About Prostate Cancer”. These gentlemen donate their time to this group by listening, sharing their story of survivorship, providing resources and helping with research. They not only host the support group at THFW, but they also assist support groups in the community and attend community health fairs that help bring awareness and provide screenings. They recently volunteered at the “11th Annual Cowtown Cruisin’ for a Cure” event, benefitting research and treatment of Prostate Cancer.

Wolfram Blattner, one of the volunteers in the group, helped design and runs the North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition website where anyone can find a wealth of information and resources about prostate cancer. Because of their dedication and compassion to our patients and the community we feel they are well deserving of this award.
